Con gran satisfacción finalizamos otro muestreo del Censo Neotropical de Aves Acuáticas en el Aica lago de Tota, el clima estaba un poco lluvioso y había bastante viento, se logró contar varias de las aves que allí hacen presencia.
We finished another sampling of the Neotropical Waterbird Census in IBA lake Tota, the climate was a little rainy and there was quite wind, it was possible to count several of the birds that make their presence there.

Desde el 2003 llevamos inventariando y monitoreando la avifauna de este importante ecosistema acuático y llamando la atención sobre la problemática ambiental que lo aqueja; logramos su designación como AICA y ahora con gran orgullo presentamos un artículo científico que recopila trece años de investigación y un video con subtitulos en inglés, el cual acerca el estudio a la comunidad no científica de todo el mundo.
Since 2003 we have been doing the inventory and monitoring of the avifauna of this important aquatic ecosystem and calling attention to the environmental problems that afflict it; we achieved its designation as IBA and now with great pride we present a scientific paper that compiles thirteen years of research and a video with english subtitles, which brings the study to the non-scientific community around the world.
Esperamos que las autoridades ambientales regionales y nacionales competentes tengan en cuenta estos aportes para crear soluciones efectivas en la protección del lago de Tota y pronto logremos su designación como sitio Ramsar.
We hope that regional and national environmental authorities will take our contributions to create effective solutions for the protection of Lake Tota and designate a Ramsar site.
A finales de marzo y principios de abril, Ixobrychus estuvo visitando la provincia de Lengupá; allí encontramos muchas aves (destacando a Pyrrhura calliptera-Brown-breasted parakeet), hermosos paisajes y gente muy interesada en proteger las aves.
At the end of March and early April, we visited Lengupá Province; we found many birds (emphasizing Pyrrhura calliptera-Brown-breasted parakeet), beautiful landscapes and people very interested in bird protection.
Las chicas Ixobrychus estuvieron de pajareo en el campus de la Uptc, allí se observaron varias especies comunes, nuevos registros para Tunja y muchas migratorias.
Ixobrychus girls were on the Uptc campus, there were several common species, new records for Tunja and many migratory species.
Ya está disponible el Volumen II del libro rojo de aves. El próximo martes 21 de marzo será su lanzamiento en la Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá; están cordialmente invitados al lanzamiento!!!. Ixobrychus se siente orgulloso de haber participado en la elaboración de varias fichas de aves que están presentes en Boyacá y en especial en el Aica lago de Tota.
